What should I know about Hiking Zakopane?
Located on Poland’s southern border with Slovakia, Zakopane sits in a valley between the foothills of the Tatras Mountains and Gubałówka hill, the latter of which is an immensely popular hiking destination and offers spectacular views over the city and Tatras.
The Tatras Mountains are another popular hiking destination due to the the abundance of wildlife and landscapes. They offer hut-to-hut tres and classic hikes to the top of several peaks.
Getting to Zakopane can be a bit tricky, but is well worth it. To reach the town, you must take the train or bus from Kraków, which is about two hours away and has an international airport. However, the effort to get here is worth the reward of remote mountain slopes in pristine and sublime wilderness.
