What should I know about Hiking Mount Shirouma?
At nearly 3,000 meters of elevation, Mount Shirouma is the 26th tallest mountain in Japan and the highest in the Hakuba section of the Hida Range. This means panoramic views of the surrounding forests and mountains await at its summit. During the autumn, the landscape looks as if it has been painted with plenty of red, orange and yellow leaves.
Most hikers opt to go on the three-day tour, heading to the summit of Mount Shirouma and two other peaks outside of Hakuba. Along the way, walkers will discover the famous hot spring, Babadani Onsen; the Grand Snowy Valley; and Tsugaike Nature Park.
