What should I know about Hiking Kyushu?
The subtropical island of Yakushima is a must-see. It’s actually the place with the most rainfall in all of Japan, but don’t let that put you off! That rain has led to stunning moss forests and ancient cedar trees that are over thousands of years old. The area is actually a UNESCO world heritage site. It’s also home to Mount Miyanoura which at 1936 meters is the perfect mountain climb. Kagoshima on the coast is another must-see and is home to the active volcano Sakurajima.
