What should I know about Hiking Aosta Valley?

Stretched over just 3,200 square kilometers, the Aosta Valley is chock-full of incredible hiking opportunities. Away from the aforementioned hotspots there are many others as well.

Among them is hiking Monte Cervino, as the Matterhorn is known in Italian. Starting from Breuil-Cervinia, it is possible to hike around the entire base of the mountain, passing iconic sites such as the reflective Lake Schwarzsee along with many others, in just eight days.

Another popular option is to hike from Gran Paradiso to Courmayeur./ This south-to-north trek takes you up the spine of the Graian Alps and right out to the foot of Mont Blanc. This 10-day hike is incredibly scenic and slightly unorthodox, so it may be a bit less busy that other popular routes.
