What should I know about Hiking Mytikas?

Situated in central Greece, about 400 kilometers north of Athens, Mytikas is the highest peak on the Mount Olympus massif.

While the summit can be reached on foot, the hike is quite steep and challenging. Many guides recommend taking three or more days to make the ascent and being in relatively good physical condition. Particularly fit hikers can make the trip in two days.

Along the way, some guides also offer the chance to summit several of the minor peaks, including Skala, Skolio and Agios Antonios.

There are also several mountain huts within the national park and surrounding area, making it possible to also head out on week-long hut-to-hut treks that include heading up to the summit.
