Frey y Jakob son dos de los refugios de montaña más tradicionales de Bariloche, a 1700 metros de altitud. Por lo tanto, me gustaría llevarte allí para que puedas vivir esta experiencia de montañismo de 3 días por ti mismo. En el camino, no te creerás la amplia variedad de paisajes que el Parque Nacional Nahuel Huapi tiene para ofrecer.

El trek de Frey y Jakob comienza en el estacionamiento del centro de esquí Cerro Catedral. Durante la primera hora caminaremos por algunas pendientes fáciles mientras disfrutamos del Lago Gutiérrez, una increíble laguna de agua azul.

Conforme avanzamos, el sendero se hace más difícil hasta que llegamos al campamento de “Piedritas”. Y aquí viene la parte más difícil del día ya que empezaremos a sentir la altura, con un gran objetivo de escalada en roca por delante. Sin embargo, en menos de una hora finalmente estaremos disfrutando de la comodidad y el calor del Refugio Frey.

En nuestro segundo día caminaremos en dirección noroeste para subir hasta la Laguna Schmoll, un lago cristalino rodeado por montañas fantásticas. Después de eso, seguiremos subiendo para poder llegar al Valle Rucaco. Cruzaremos los picos "Constructores" y los "Tres Reyes" y una vez allí, disfrutaremos de uno de los miradores más hermosos del viaje. Frente a ti, la Laguna Jakob y el Refugio San Martin. Llegar allí requiere algunos conocimientos técnicos debido al suelo arenoso. Por supuesto, una comida caliente rodeada por el paisaje perfecto a través de la ventana del refugio, te estará esperando.

El día siguiente, tendrás la opción de visitar el valle y hacer una caminata hasta la Laguna Témpanos. Es un lago alpino oculto con rocas verticales alrededor. Luego, continuaremos hacia el Valle del Río Casa de Piedra para comenzar nuestro descenso. Aunque el descenso es empinado durante la primera hora, luego se convierte en uno más fácil. Finalmente, estaremos en la ciudad de Bariloche nuevamente.

Opcional: Puedo extender este programa 2 días más. De esa manera podemos visitar el Refugio Laguna Negra descendiendo a través del Cerro Lopez. Esta parte del viaje será más desafiante pero los paisajes bien lo valen.

Otra opción es combinar el trek de Frey-Jakob con un ataque cumbre al Cerro Capilla o cualquier otra montaña.

AAGM mountain guide from Argentina.

I was raised in Buenos Aires where I used to go sailing and fishing with my family during weekend and holidays. As a teenager I began traveling to Patagonia with friends to fish, hike and camp. Years later I became a rock climber and mountaineer since I wanted to asses more summits and amazing views.

At the age of 23 and after gathering a good amount of fun ascents and traverses along Patagonia, I decided to fully commit to a life in the outdoors. As a result I started my carrier at N.O.L.S. – National Outdoors Leadership School in the U.S.A. and Chile. I lead rock climbing and mountaineering trips in Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Alaska and in Aysen (Chilean Patagonia) for nine years.

In 2009 finally settled permanently in Bariloche and focused my guiding work on the Lake District Region. Here I discovered new styles of guiding and service which were good to experience and helped me grow in this profession. Now I am able to mix my background on outdoor education with the guiding world and create unique experiences for active travelers.

I take advantage of every season of the year, going mountain biking and sea-kayaking in the summer, ice-skating on alpine lakes during the Fall, back-country skiing during the Winter, rock climbing and mountaineering as soon as the Spring makes it way through the snow.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger.
