Der Huascaran-Berg befindet sich im nordzentralen Bereich der Cordillera Blanca und im Huascaran-Nationalpark. Er ist der höchste Gipfel Perus und der fünfte auf dem amerikanischen Kontinent. Der nördliche Gipfel liegt 6.655 Meter über dem Meeresspiegel und der südliche Gipfel ist mit 6.768 Metern der höchste Punkt des Landes. Er ist eine sehr bekannte Herausforderung für Bergsteiger aus aller Welt.
Für alle Kletterer, die seinen höchsten Gipfel erreichen möchten, bietet der Huascaran zwei Routen: die Normalroute und die Escudo-Route. Wir beginnen unsere 6-tägige Expedition in Huaraz. Während des Aufstiegs erleben wir einen Höhenunterschied von 3.740 Metern vom Ausgangspunkt und 750 Metern vom höchsten Lager. Reiseverlauf
Tag 1: Huaraz - Basislager
Wir fahren anderthalb Stunden von Huaraz nach Musho, einem kleinen Dorf in der Region Ancash. Von dort aus wandern wir 4 bis 5 Stunden zum Basislager (4.200 Meter).
Tag 2: Moränenlager - Hochlager
Wir machen eine 5 bis 6-stündige Wanderung zuerst zum Moränenlager und dann zum Hochlager (5.400 Meter).
Tag 3: Hochlager 2
Am 3. Tag steigen wir zum Hochlager 2 (6.000 Meter) auf, was etwa 5 bis 6 Stunden dauert.
Tag 4: Huascaran-Gipfel
Nach einer 11 bis 13-stündigen Wanderung erreichen wir den Gipfel des unglaublichen Huascaran.
Tag 5: Basislager
Wir beginnen den Abstieg zum Hochlager, gehen durch das Moränenlager bis zum Basislager. Dies dauert etwa 4 bis 6 Stunden.
Tag 6: Musho - Huaraz
An unserem letzten Tag kehren wir nach Musho (4 Stunden) zurück und fahren dann nach Huaraz.

Percy Williams Dextre Henostroza who is a member of the Peruvian Mountain Guide Association (AGMP) for over 17 years and is fully certified by the Unión International Association of Mountain Guide (IFMGA-UIAGM). Percy who hails from a family of mountaineers, has worked and climbed all over Peru honing his skills over many years in the mountains. Such as: Huandoy (Norte Face) Piramide Garcilazo (South West Face), Huascaran, Alpamayo, Chopicalqui, Ranrapalca, Tocllaraju, different routes, Another’s ones etc. Pisco, Yanapaccha, Vallunaraju, Ishinca, Urus, different routes, another ones, etc.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much.
